Suzuki GSX-S1000 tiny metal shavings on rear rim & chain

Just picked up a used GSX-S1000 with about 7,000 miles on it. While doing a deep clean, I spotted some fine metal flakes near the rear sprocket and chain area, only noticeable under direct light. No obvious wear or noise, but it's got me wondering.

Anyone seen this before on a higher-mileage GSX-S? Normal wear, or something to worry about?

I guess it's likely to be normal chain wear if the previous owner didn't keep it cleaned or lubed well. Maybe check the sprocket teeth and chain slack just to be safe.
