My 2016 GSX-S1000 recently started having problems. It started with showing me the wrong gear and turned into a full on not starting problem. Based on some research and knowledge, this is the gear position sensor, so I'll be replacing it. Since I never done this on this model, I was wondering how easy will this process be?

Replacing the gear position sensor on a 2016 GSX-S1000 is a fairly straightforward job for someone with basic mechanical skills, its located on the side of the transmission, usually held in by a couple of bolts and connected with a plug, so its mostly just removing the old sensor and swapping in the new one. The biggest things to watch out for are making sure the bike is stable, noting the sensor's orientation when removing it and being careful not to overtighten the bolts. Have you got a service manual handy to follow the torque specs?
